A DRUG driver almost five times the legal cannabis limit has been sentenced to four months imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.

Wasiq Khan, 32, of Fenby Grove, Holme Wood, Bradford, has also been banned from driving for a year.

The 32-year-old was stopped by the police in Leeds on March 30 this year while going at speed in an Audi car.

The vehicle smelled of cannabis and Khan was found to have a reading approaching five times the legal limit.

He pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs while subject to a suspended prison sentence.

That sentence had been imposed in November last year for smashing up a car with a baseball bat.

Bradford Crown Court heard today that Khan was a hard working man addicted to cannabis.

He was also sentenced to a probation service rehabilitation order to address his drug misuse.

He must carry out a total of 80 hours of unpaid work as part of his punishment.
