A POLICE crackdown on drugs and anti social behaviour in the Batley and Spen areas has led to numerous drug seizures.

Among the drugs found in the multiple raids on properties was a haul of skunk cannabis worth £10,000.

The day of action took place on Wednesday and saw police use community intelligence to target two residential properties in Cleckheaton, Birkenshaw and a commercial premises in Batley.

The skunk cannabis was found in the commercial premises along with scales and empty self-sealing bags, believed by police to be for selling the skunk to the public.

A 56 year old man was arrested following the raids and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police Sergeant Willan, of the neighbourhood policing team, said: "As the direct result of community based intelligence officers have taken a significant quantity of drugs off the streets that we have no doubt were intended for sale and distribution to users of the premises and others consumers in the local community that include both young and vulnerable people.

"I wish to reassure residents in the Batley and Spen Valley area that myself and my team are committed to tackling drug related misuse that contributes to anti-social behaviour which has a negative influence on our communities.

"I would urge anyone with information to contact their local Neighbourhood team on 101 number or the website or to ring anonymously on Crime stoppers number 0800 555 111."
