A HERITAGE railway has become the first to form a football supporters' club.

Keighley & Worth Valley Railway has teamed up with Bradford City FC as it members include a number of Bantams' fans.

The formation of the supporters' club branch was celebrated at the railway when the WD Class 90733 locomotive sported a headboard designed to evoke memories of the days when football fans used excursion trains to reach away games.

City mascot Billy Bantam and members of the Bradford Disability Football Club were invited to travel on the train.

A Keighley & Worth Valley Railway spokesman said: "We became the first heritage railway to have a supporters' club branch associated to it and this special train was to celebrate.

"Several volunteers and staff on the railway are City fans."

The headboard carried the number 149, which refers to the cost in pounds of a City season ticket for next season.
