A MAN who turned his bedroom into a cannabis bagging factory has been spared an immediate jail sentence.
Empty half kilo bags of the drug were found when police searched Ziakat Ali’s address in Spring Gardens, Manningham, Bradford.
Ali, 23, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply on August 9 last year. He had since been sentenced for dangerous driving on Spring Gardens on August 30, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
Dave MacKay, prosecuting, said Ali had an ounce of cannabis in his car boot and £315 cash on him when he was stopped on Manningham Lane. He was using his bedroom to break down the drug to sell on the street.
Ali’s barrister, Tom Storey, said he was due to start work next week managing a restaurant for his family’s business.
Judge Colin Burn, who dealt with Ali for dangerous driving on May 6, gave him a total sentence of 11 months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, with 180 hours’ unpaid work and a probation service rehabilitation activity requirement.
