THE jury in the trial of a Bradford taxi driver accused of sexually assaulting a woman passenger was today continuing its deliberations after being sent home at 4pm yesterday.
Father-of-four Farooq Ahmed denies making indecent suggestions and touching his passenger on the knee after taking her home at 4am on April 6 last year.
Ahmed, 38, of Birch Lane, West Bowling, Bradford, told the jury the woman approached his taxi, which was parked in the rank on Hall Ings in the city centre, and gave him £4.20 for the fare.
She was on the phone to the police and told him her partner had assaulted her.
Ahmed said he thought she would pay him the extra money for the fare when she got home but she did not reappear out of her house.
Ahmed, who pleads not guilty to sexual assault, denied telling his passenger he was divorced and saying she would "benefit from a real man."
He said he waited outside her home for ten to 15 minutes for the balance of his fare and then drove off.
The woman, who can't be name for legal reasons, alleges Ahmed told her his sexual fantasies and then touched her bare knee.
The trial continues.
