BRADFORD Bulls Foundation is vying for votes to fund its new £150,000 community and leisure centre.

The BullsEye Centre would provide a range of activities, training, information, sport and physical activities to communities in Bradford.

It would be the new home of the club’s charity arm, the Bradford Bulls Foundation, which is currently based in a portable cabin in the Touchdown Bar at Odsal Stadium.

The new centre, which would also be located at the stadium, would include a multi-use games area, an indoor hall for sports activities, training rooms, meeting areas and offices.

It would be open to all members of the community, including all ages and abilities.

The BullsEye Centre is one of six community projects from across Yorkshire and the Humber competing in the Jewson Building Better Communities competition.

The winner will be decided by an online public vote, with a deadline of Sunday, June 19.

No date has yet been set for the re-build to take place and the centre to open.

Mark Winder, Bradford Bulls Foundation chief executive, said: “This is about community and making Bradford a better place to be. We want to be the community hub in Bradford. It will be more than about rugby.

“We just want us to do more in an iconic place.

“We want to offer a better product for our groups. We have been here for an awful long time.

“We deliver a significant amount of work in the stadium. However, our facilities are not fit for purpose.

“The facility would allow us to develop a programme that makes the stadium a hub or eye of the community, utilising the stadium, rugby league and the heroes that sport creates as ambassadors to our activities.

“The centre’s project will stall significantly if we don’t get the vote.”

The Foundation offers a number of education courses to 28 students aged 16 to 19, running and cycling clubs and healthy living sessions.

The facility would also be used on matchdays as a creche.
