YORKSHIRE pair Adam Lyth and Alex Lees safely negotiated a tricky morning session after Somerset enforced the follow-on in Taunton.

Resuming their first innings at 306-9, tailender Steve Patterson was bowled in the third over of the morning as his side were all out for 311, still 251 runs behind.

Lyth (14) and Lees (1) then took Yorkshire to lunch at 15-0 after surviving 13 new-ball overs on a pitch that spent most of the morning under covers.

Patterson (32) and fellow seamer Jack Brooks (38) had last night seen off the final 19 overs after Somerset took 5-11 to rip through the visitors' middle and lower order.

Play had earlier been pushed back an hour as heavy rain meant 16 overs were lost.
