A CALL has been made for up to 60 volunteers to help staff the Lord Mayor's Dragon Boat Festival this Saturday.

Up to 40 teams are expected to compete in the race, which will be held on the River Aire at Roberts Park in Saltaire.

The day-long festival, which also features stalls, live music, and street food, is planned and delivered solely by volunteers to ensure that all money raised goes to the Lord Mayor's 'Spread a Smile' appeal and the Bradford Hospitals Children's Charity.

Volunteers are needed to act as stewards, bucket collectors, litter pickers, team supporters, security staff, and other general support.

Adam Tasker, who is coordinating volunteers for the event, said helpers would be given a free boat to take part in the race, and the chance to enjoy a free session at the Doe Park Water Sports Centre in Denholme later in May.

"The aim is for us to be able to do as much as possible for the festival without any costs, so that all monies raised goes to the charities," he said.
