THE Met Office has issued a warning of snow and a risk of difficult driving conditions for the Yorkshire region.

Parts of West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire could be affected by snow later today and into Friday morning.

A Met Office spokesman said snow accumulations of 5-10cms are likely above 200-300m and 2-4cms lower down at around 100m.

The spokesman said an area of rain, sleet and snow is expected to come southeastwards into Yorkshire later today and tomorrow morning.

Parts of West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire could be affected.

The Met Office, which has issued a 'yellow' warning of snow, said the weather could cause difficult driving conditions and disruption to transport.

The spokesman said: "A depression moving eastwards across northern parts of Northern England on Thursday evening will bring cold air in its wake, causing showery outbreaks of rain to turn to snow, principally on hills but also to low levels at times."
