A MAN has been jailed for breaking into a Bradford house and causing £2,500 loss and damage.

Gavin John, 41, burgled the property in Wootton Street, West Bowling, on March 1.

While on police bail he stamped on his partner's television set on April 4 when the couple were having a drunken row, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.

John, who pleaded guilty to burglary and criminal damage, had 39 previous convictions for 93 offences, the court heard.

He had used six aliases and given three false dates of birth over the years.

John's barrister, Ken Green, said his client had struggled for many years with drug addiction.

Mr Green told the court his client was very remorseful, telling the police: "I'm not a burglar. I'm not proud of breaking into someone's house."

John's partner was in court to support him, saying the row they had was "six of one and half a dozen of another".

Judge Jonathan Rose told John: "The person whose house you entered will undoubtedly have been deeply distressed by what you did."

John, of no fixed address, was jailed for 18 months for burglary and a month to run consecutively for the damage.
