Road closures have been announced for 2016 Tour De Yorkshire.

Last year’s successful event started in the seaside town of Bridlington and worked its way through the county before concluding in Leeds.

This time around, the tour will start in the east of the county in Beverley, then proceeding 185km and finishing in the wonderful surroundings of Settle.

But an event of this scale does mean there will be considerable disruption on the roads in and around the venues that will play host to the race this year.

The list shows the disruption on Thursday 28 April and Friday 29 April

• B6480 Duke Street between the junction with Station Road and the junction with Town Head - closed from 10am Thursday to 9pm Friday 29 April, to allow for the construction and removal of the finish area for the race.

• Access on the Market Place will be restricted during this time, with access to properties at the rear of the market place being maintained via High Street.

Stage two will see the tour move on to Otley and making the 136km journey through to Doncaster as with stage one there will be huge disruption on the day of the race and the day prior in order for the organising committee to arrange the towns appropriately. The road closure list is as follows.

Road closures around Otley The affected roads in Otley will be Boroughgate, Westgate, Piper Lane, Bradford Road, West Chevin Road, Burras Lane, Station Road, Bondgate, Crossgate, Nelson Street, Walkergate, Cross Green and the A659 Pool road.

Further closures • Stage 1, Tadcaster During stage 1, on 29 April, the slip road exit from the A64 on to the A162 at Tadcaster will be closed from 1.15pm to 2.45pm. This is slightly in advance of the rolling road closures and is to remove the risk of cars queuing back on to the A64 when the rolling road closures are enforced.

• A diversion will be in place. The diversion route is west on the A64 to A1(M) Junction 44, using the roundabout to return on the A64 eastbound to exit on the A659 into Tadcaster.

Road Closures in Harrogate District: Stage 1, Friday 29 April Greenhow Hill

As the only king of the mountain point on stage 1, Greenhow Hill is likely to be a popular location for spectators.

• Greenhow Hill will be closed to motor vehicles from noon to 5pm between the Royal Oak pub in Pateley Bridge and Greenhow village.

• Peat Lane will also be closed during this time.

• A signed diversion for through traffic will be in place between Grassington and Pateley Bridge via the A59, and between Greenhow and Pateley Bridge via Duck Lane and the A59.

• Additional car parking is available at the Nidderdale Showground, where there will also be a big screen on which to watch the race.

The final stage of tour de Yorkshire sees Yorkshire’s most northerly town play host as Middelesborough takes its turn to see off the riders as they depart for the final time.

The riders will embark on the longest of the stages as they battle the 198km ride that takes them to the seaside town of Scarborough where after 519km they will finally be able to hop off their bikes for the final time of the weekend and the winner will be crowned.

Again disruptions are to be expected in and around any hosting town/village. We have provided a road closure list for the local areas.
