A MOTORCYCLIST from Bradford has been killed after his bike mounted the kerb, throwing him from the machine.

The rider, a 46-year-old man, suffered fatal head injuries and died at the scene of the incident on Lowfields Way, Elland, yesterday evening.

The Major Collision and Enquiry Team are seeking witnesses to the incident which happened just after 5pm.

A police spokesman said: "It occurred after the vehicle, a dark green Yamaha motorbike, mounted the kerb while in motion, causing the rider to be thrown from the vehicle.

"The rider, a 46-year-old Bradford man, suffered fatal head injuries as a result of the incident and died at the scene."

Sergeant Ann Drury, of the Major Collision and Enquiry Team, said: "Enquiries remain ongoing into this incident and we are appealing for witnesses.

"We would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision or who saw the bike, registration T905 WGH, being ridden on Lowfields Way in Elland between 4.30pm and 5pm.

"Anyone who has information should contact DC 6942 Taylor at the Major Collision and Enquiry Team on 101 referencing police log 1112 of April 13."
