ORGANISERS of the fifth annual Haworth Beer Festival are looking forward to welcoming a large gathering of real ale enthusiasts to the village's Old School Room later this month.

This year's event takes place from April 15 to 17, and will include dozens of real ales, ciders and perrys.

Kathryn Thornton, who is staging the event, said: "We have seen a huge resurgence in lovely micro breweries, not only from Yorkshire but across the UK, and we are very keen to support those brewing, as without those passionate folk we would not be able to continue with this popular event.

"People need to get their tickets early, as we'll have more than 1,000 coming through the doors.

"We do get busy at peak periods during the weekend, and have a limited capacity at the venue."

This year's festival will include a vintage cocktail parlour dedicated to Charlotte Brontë in her bicentennial year, and food provided by Chris Herd's butchers in Ingrow.

There will be a corporate event from noon to 4pm on the Friday, which will be addressed by Scott Henderson and Sir James Aykroyd, of Bronte Liqueur.

The event will then be open to all from 4pm to 11pm, with live entertainment and a 'happy two hours', during which time a pint will cost £2.50.

Doors open from noon to 11pm on Saturday, with last orders at 10.30pm.

There will be food on offer during the afternoon session, as well as local live entertainment, spot prizes and raffles.

Evening musical entertainment will begin at about 7pm with the Hustle Sound System playing Reggae, Ska, Northern Soul and vinyl records brought in by festival-goers.

Sunday is the Charity Family Fun Day, starting at noon. This will include soft play for very young children, a pop-up tea party with waffles, cupcakes and ice cream sundaes, and also a Manorlands tombola.

Entry to the festival costs £3. Visit haworthbeerfestival.co.uk for more details.
