TWO local companies with specialist healthcare products have taken steps to raise awareness of their ranges.

Bradford-based signage firm New Vision, which over the past four years has become a leading designer of products aimed at helping dementia sufferers, has launched a new website to promote its services to care homes and hospitals - and has plans for an online shop.

And Yeadon-based EMIS Group has relaunched its NHS diabetic eye screening business as EMIS Care as it renewed two contracts to provide screening for around 94.000 people in the Midlands and 60,000 patients in the North East of England along with a new service for 70,000 patients in South West London.

Laisterdyke-based New Vision has produced specialist health sector products since 2012 when it was contracted to design award-winning wall murals and display graphics for two new dementia wards at Bradford Royal Infirmary .

The BRI project was the first step towards the launch of its specialist healthcare division.

Designer Andy Edwards developed original concepts for new products, including dementia friendly image boards, memory boxes and Kodak style slide wall displays.

New Vision has expanded its health-related products which now includes a digital fish tank, a 1950s style TV that plays nostalgia films, dementia friendly signage and various items for reminisce rooms, such as false fireplaces and windows.

It is one of the only UK signage companies offering these type of products and has completed dementia and children’s ward projects with NHS trusts across the country.

Tony Stead, business development manager, said:“This has been a real journey for our business and incredibly rewarding.

"We’re keen to bring new products to market – for example, we’re introducing a 1970s style TV in recognition of the growing number of younger people living with early onset dementia. The website should allow more hospitals and care homes to see what’s available and create even better dementia friendly environments, which has to be a good thing.”

EMIS Group has renamed its Medical Imaging UK operation, acquired in 2014, as EMIS Care. It is the UK’s leading provider of outsourced diabetic eye screening and ophthalmology imaging services to NHS trusts, serving 550,000 patients across England, including 35,000 in Bradford and Airedale. .

Chris Spencer, EMIS Group chief executive, said: “EMIS Care is an important part of EMIS Group. I am pleased to mark the launch of the new brand with these strong contract wins and look forward to the business’ continuing success.”
