A BABY tumbled out of her pram on to a concrete floor when her mother was attacked by a young woman in Bradford.

Mum April Gray was pushing nine-month-old daughter Hannar out of Kirkgate Market when she was grabbed by the hair and thrown to the floor.

The pram then toppled over, causing little Hannar to bang her forehead on the hard floor.

April, 16, said the attacker was a girl who was with another girl and two boys.

"There was a gang of four people walking towards me but I didn't really pay attention to who they were," she said.

"I didn't look at any of them, they walked past and then suddenly I felt a hand grab the right side of my hair from the left side of me, and threw me on to the floor.

"It was so unexpected that I didn't let go of the pram and when I went to the floor the pram toppled over and my daughter went head first on to the concrete floor and the gang rang off."

April took her daughter to hospital, where she was checked over and allowed home. The fall on to the floor left her with a big bruise on her forehead.

"I'm scared to go into town now because of what happened," said April, who lives in Ringwood Road, Canterbury, Bradford.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the assault, which happened on Thursday, March 10.

A Force spokesman confirmed that the incident had taken place in Kirkgate.

"The incident happened at about 5.40pm when it is alleged a woman pushing a pram had her hair grabbed, causing her to fall to the floor.

"As the woman fell to the floor she was still holding the pushchair which then turned over.

"As a result a nine-month-old girl was left with a bruised forehead."

Any witnesses are asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 13160106339.
