POLICE investigating the sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl in Leeds have arrested a 34-year-old Bradford man.

The incident is alleged to have happened in a branch of Greggs bakery on The Headrow in Leeds at 3.30pm on February 12.

The girl was in the store with her mother and brother when she was reported to have been sexually assaulted by a man.

Yesterday detectives investigating the case released CCTV footage from the store of a man they wanted to trace in connection with the assault.

Last night, following the appeal, a man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, and has since been released on police bail.

Chief Inspector Mark Griffin from the Leeds District Policing Team said, "A 34-year-old man from the Bradford area has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who shared our appeal for information, and for the public's support in this matter."
