THE SUCCESS of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway during 2015 has been reported to shareholders at their annual general meeting.

The volunteer-run railway has 32 ‘supporter shareholders’ who bought shares in the organisation when it first began in the late 1960s.

They are not allowed to vote, with power instead resting with the only other shareholder, the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway Preservation Society.

The railway, however, recognises the importance of its original shareholders and each year ensures the original shareholders are kept informed of the railway’s progress.

Outgoing director Mike Curtis reported that the railway continued to operate safely, efficiently and in a sound financial manner

He highlighted notable achievements during the previous 12 months, including the return to the railway line of locomotive No 75078 after a lengthy overhaul.

He added: “Along with our existing fleet, we must be the envy of many other steam railways.”
