PLANS for the second phase of the once-controversial Baildon Business Park have been approved by Bradford Council.

Pendle Russells has been given the go-ahead to construct a further three industrial units on a 1.4 hectare site within the large Buck Lane development, off Otley Road.

The application said: "The site will create opportunities for hi-technology businesses by providing accommodation fit for the 21st century and could help retain existing businesses within the district and also attract inward business investment to Bradford."

As well as the units, the plans will also see 22 trees planted between the site and the River Aire.

The first stage of the business park is home to medical equipment manufacturer Anetic Aid, which will soon be joined by West Yorkshire Glazing, which is re-locating to the site from Yeadon, and Shipley-based die cast model company John Ayrey Die-Casts, which is re-locating to allow it to expand and move into the 3-D printing market.

Initial plans for the Buck Lane development sparked protests from some Baildon residents but there have been no objections to the latest phase of the business park.
