PLANS to turn a former Bradford pub into a restaurant and flats have been recommended for approval by the Council.

Developers want to convert the Prince of Wales pub on Allerton Road, Allerton, into a restaurant and double the number of flats on the site from one to two.

The application has received 22 objections from the public, citing highway safety and parking issues and potential problems with noise and disturbance.

The Council's Highways department has described the proposal as "hard to resist", but said it would like to see land at the side of the currently vacant property used for extra parking.

In a report outlining the scheme, Council planners state that "while the concerns raised in the majority of the representations received are noted, the granting of planning permission would not result in highway safety or parking issues above and beyond what could occur without prior planning approval."

The restaurant would be restricted to opening hours between 8am and 11pm.

The plans will be discussed by the Bradford Area Planning Panel when it meets at City Hall tomorrow.
