A MURAL playing tribute to David Bowie has gone on display in Bradford city centre.
Artist Trafford Parsons has created the mural on white hoardings by an entrance in Ivegate for the Sunbridge Wells development featuring dozens of photocopied pictures of the singer, who died earlier this month at the age 69 as well as a painting of him during his Ziggy Stardust days.
Mr Parsons, who is also director of the gallery at Sunbridge Wells, said: "The people's reaction has been fabulous. I can tell already that people like it.
Graham Hall, developer of the Sunbridge Wells project, said: "I asked Trafford to come and paint something on the hoardings but didn't know what he was going to do. People have already been leaving messages on it. It's become a tourist attraction. It's great."
The display has already captured the imagination of passers-by, with one handwritten message saying; 'Look up here. I'm in heaven. David Bowie 1947-2016.'
Pamela Hughes, 60, of Cleckheaton, stopped to look at the mural with her twin sister, Patricia Johnson.
Miss Hughes said: "You don't expect anything like this in Bradford. I remember him when he was first on TV."
The mural will remain at the site for the next five weeks.
