POLICE have issued a fresh appeal for information about the whereabouts of two families from Bradford feared to have headed to Syria.

The family of Bradford sisters, Khadija Dawood, 30, Sugra Dawood, 34, and Zohra Dawood, 33, along with their nine children, aged between three and 15, who went missing in June last year, are still feared to have travelled to link up with terror group Islamic State.

Meanwhile, seven members of a second family from West Bowling are still missing, a family member confirmed.

Imran Ameen, 39, his wife, Farzana Ameen, 40, and their five children - Isma Imran, 15; Moeen Imran, 14; Mohammed Muneeb Imran, 11; Ismail Imran, eight; and Mohammed Imran, five all went missing in October last year.

West Yorkshire Police said they will continue to carry out "extensive enquiries" with authorities overseas.

A police spokesman said: "We continue to support families who have loved ones that are believed to have travelled to Syria and parts of Iraq and the local communities who also may have concerns.

"Officers continue to carry out extensive enquiries with authorities overseas.

"We would also appeal to anyone with any information about their whereabouts to get in touch.

"One of our primary concerns is the safety and welfare of the children of these families and their safe return.

"Travel to Syria and parts of Iraq for any purpose is extremely unsafe and strongly discouraged."

The Dawood sisters and their children were due back in the UK on Thursday, June 11, last year.

It is believed that ten members of the Dawood family travelled to Istanbul on a flight on June 9 last year.

The group of 12 split into two groups to cross into Syria from Turkey, an Islamic State smuggler later claimed.

Their families in Little Horton have still not heard anything on their whereabouts and are working closely with police.

Balaal Hussain Khan, a lawyer acting for the fathers of the missing children, said: "I have not had any contact with the family over the last few weeks.

"It is still concerning all round."

Meanwhile, Imran Ameen and his family members, last seen on October 5 last year, bought a one-way ticket to Turkey.

It is believed Mr Ameen's 30-year-old brother Rehan Noor-Ul-Ameen travelled to Dalaman, Turkey, on June 29, from Manchester Airport.

The Ameen family is believed to have travelled from Manchester Airport on October 6 last year to Antalya in Turkey but their current whereabouts is unknown.

But a member of the Ameen family, who lives opposite them in West Bowling, did not want to speak in public about his missing relatives when asked by the Telegraph & Argus.

Anyone who is concerned about a friend or loved one who is planning to travel to areas of conflict, can contact the police in confidence on the 101 phone number or go to preventtragedies.co.uk to access relevant support and advice.
