GREETINGS card firm Hallmark is consolidating its Bradford operations onto one site following major cutbacks last year.

The firm is to switch its head office from Bingley Road to its former printing site at Dawson Lane, Tong, which remains Hallmark's main distribution centre.

The move from Bingley Road, where Hallmark has been based for around 30 years in the former W. N, Sharpe site, is expected to take around a year.

A company spokesman said no job losses were expected as a result of the move.

Hallmark said the move reflected its current size and needs and would bring head office operations closer to the distribution operation and also create a dedicated creative and design space, enabling the business to be more connected.

Steve Wright, Hallmark's international chief executive, said: “We’re excited about the opportunity that moving to Dawson Lane presents. The essence of our company is design and creativity and the relocation gives us an opportunity to re-shape our head office and ensure that it fits our needs as both a creative and customer focussed business.

“Although we will be sad to leave Bingley Road, it gives us a real chance to bring our Bradford-based teams together under one roof and create a new culture in the process. We’re committed to Bradford, we’ve been here for more than 30 years and we’re proud to be based in the city.”

He said the move was part of a plan, delivered over the last few years, to transform the UK business and enable it to focus on its core strengths, re-shape its UK teams and work more collaboratively.

In 2014 US-owned Hallmark cut 300 jobs at Dawson Lane through outsourcing 80 per cent of card production from Bradford to the Far East, while signing an exclusive deal with Shipley printing firm Herbert Walker to become its new UK manufacturing base for the remaining 20 per cent.
