POLICE have confirmed that a motorcyclist involved in a crash early this morning was killed in the accident.

The 24-year-old, named locally as Lee Nauman, was riding a black Yamaha bike when it was in collision with a silver Ford Kuga in Lee Lane, Cottingley, at about 7.20am.

The crash happened near the junction with Moorview Crescent, just after a left-hand bend.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the victim died at the scene.

A resident walking her dogs said: "I heard a bang about 7.15am and thought it was my husband, who had been out with the dogs.

"The police and ambulance arrived really quickly and did everything they could to try to resuscitate the man, who I think works at a nearby quarry and was on his regular commute.

"It's terribly sad and the emergency services did everything they could."
