GARETH Green has added the Eric Hodgkinson Bradford Snooker Handicap Trophy to his already impressive list of achievements after a 3-1 victory against Josh Walker in the final at Great Horton Conservative Club.

The Harold Club player, playing off minus 47, had to concede 40 points per frame to Yorkshire Handicap champion Walker, making the victory even more impressive.

The first frame was tight, as you would expect, and, trailing by 21 points, Green cleared the last four colours to win by a point.

It looked good in frame two for Green with an early run of 35, but Walker found his form and made a 32 break of his own to level the match.

A 39 break gave Green victory in frame three, and the title was wrapped up with consistent 20-plus breaks in the last frame, meaning Green is now the only player to have won all Bradford's major trophies, having already won the Bradford singles title four times and the pairs with brother Anthony three times.

Green will be looking to etch his name on the famous Bradford singles trophy once again, and has been drawn to play Dean Parker in the second round, while nine-times champion and holder Wayne Cooper takes on Mark Ball.

Walker's reward for beating 2014 champion John Wellham is a tie against Dave Stirk, with Darren Goy, victor against 2004 champion Howard Mawson, having an intriguing tie against Russell Morgan, a promising youngster making his debut.

Anthony Green, runner-up in 2014, will play 2014 Bradford Handicap champion Adam Tipper, 2005 pairs winners Jason Murgatroyd and Mark Slater face each other, Bradford No 2 captain Hanif Rafiq takes on Damian Bentley, and Bradford No 1 player Lewis Walsh meets Richard Hagerty in what is a strong field.

Bradford Snooker Pairs line-up: P Hamilton & A Tipper v K Firth & W Cooper, H Rafiq & B Singh v M Slater & J Murgatroyd, R Morgan & J Walker v N Hudson & C Brook, R Hagerty & R Beckford v M Sharp & R Duffield, C&D Tolson v E Ratcliffe & A Rhodes, S Jackson & D Goy v G&A Green, M Rhodes & B Aspinall v J&C Wellham, C Sneddon & K Walker v L Walsh & H Mawson.

Bradford No 1 stretched their lead at the top of Division One of the Yorkshire Inter-District League with a 4-2 victory at Sheffield No 3.

Cooper shared frames with Ashley Carty, Firth was comfortable winning both his frames, and Walsh, despite losing out in his first frame, won the all-important last frame for victory.

The side take on Huddersfield at Undercliffe Cricket Club on Sunday (7pm), Bradford No 2 travel to Leeds No 2 on Sunday (7.30pm), and the billiards team host Huddersfield No 1 on Saturday at Great Horton Conservative Club (7.30pm).
