A MAN who built a new life in Spain after jumping bail 15 years ago has appeared at Bradford Crown Court after he was arrested at Gatwick Airport.
Anthony Denzil Collins, now 51, and of the Barkerend area of Bradford, failed to turn up for his trial at the city's crown court on October 16, 2000.
Camille Morland, prosecuting, said today that Collins was facing an allegation of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Up to ten prosecution witnesses were lined up to give evidence in the case.
Collins pleaded guilty to a Bail Act offence and was remanded back into custody until a case review is held on December 18.
Collins' barrister, Rodney Ferm, who represented him 15 years ago, said a trial date would be fixed at the next hearing.
He made no application for bail.
Mr Ferm said Collins had built a new life for himself since he left the UK.
"He has a settled relationship in Spain and a little boy aged two and a half," he told the court.
