A MAN has been jailed for eight months for looking after a Bradford cannabis farm to write off a gambling debt.

Dainius Vasiliauskas, 26, was sent to an address in Haycliffe Road, Great Horton, to tend the 84 plant operation that could have yielded up to four kilos of the Class B drug.

The Lithuanian national, who had been in the UK for six months, ran up the debt while working as a van driver in Milton Keynes, Bradford Crown Court heard today.

He was arrested at the Bradford house and remanded into custody.

Vasiliauskas pleaded guilty to production of cannabis on November 16.

His barrister, David McGonigal, said the factory was already set up and he was ordered to care for it to write off the money he owed.

Judge David Hatton QC told Vasiliauskas: "I accept that you were brought into this enterprise to pay off a debt and that your role was a lesser one, including being essentially a gardener."
