A DOZEN charities and other organisations have been presented with money raised by this year's successful Oxenhope Straw Race.

Representatives from these groups gathered at Keighley Rugby Union Football Club, in Utley, to receive a share of the 2015 fundraising sum of £13,125.

Oxenhope Straw Race event secretary Jane Barrett said she and her colleagues were delighted with this figure.

"We had slightly fewer teams taking part this year – 215, when we normally have about 240 to 250," she said.

"But these fewer teams raised even more money, so it's been a very successful year for us regardless."

Monday evening's event also saw certificates presented to the 17 2015 straw race teams which each raised more than £100.

The team which raised the most amount of cash this year was Audrey and Bob Butler, of Oxenhope, who managed an impressive sponsorship total of £326. They were also the top fundraisers in 2014.

Organisations to receive a share of the £13,125 this year were: Manorlands, Haworth Riding for Disabled, Faith and Light, Parkinsons Disease Support Group, Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure, Relate, Phab, Oxenhope Youth Club, Oxenhope Preschool, Oxenhope Millennium Green, Keighley Scout Service Team and Cullingworth Scouts.
