A 26-year-old Holme Wood man was today cleared of a gun offence and affray, at the home of the mother of convicted murderer Lee Calvert.

A jury at Bradford Crown Court found John Lowther not guilty, on the direction of the judge, of affray and possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence to Karen Calvert, after the prosecution offered no evidence on the second day of his trial. He had denied the charges.

Lowther, of Denbury Mount, Holme Wood, pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage, by throwing a car jack through the living room window of the house in Stirling Crescent, Holme Wood. He was given a conditional discharge because he had been in custody since the incident in June.

The judge, Recorder Anthony Hawks, said the public would not tolerate such incidents.

He said the fallout from the murder of Barry Selby, by Lee Calvert and others, had affected a large number of people.
