A dangerous sex offender who had been hunted by police over the weekend after he absconded from a Bradford mental health hospital has been found.

Paranoid schizophrenic Elwin Cuffy, 49, had last been seen at 3.55pm on Saturday at Cygnet Hospital in Bierley Lane, Bierley.

Police established that Cuffy, who is from Doncaster, had taken a taxi from Bierley Lane to the centre of his hometown, and South Yorkshire Police tweeted tonight that he had been located to an address there.

Detective Sergeant Craig Mckay, of Bradford District CID, had warned that Cuffy had mental health issues and could pose a risk to himself or others.

Menace Cuffy was branded a risk to women and detained without limit under the Mental Health Act at Leeds Crown Court in 2011 after being convicted of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in the city.

He was also sectioned in Nottingham in 1998, following convictions for robbery and possessing a fake firearm.
