FIRE crews were called to two seperate car fires around the Canterbury area overnight.
At 6.59pm yesterday a crew from Bradford fire station was called Chapel Street after a report of a car on fire.
The engine of the flaming Fiat Punto had been left running and the car left in gear. The car had then run into a wall.
The Punto had ended up near a pile of rubbish, but fire fighters managed to put it out before it could spread.
The car was a complete write off.
At 5.12am today the same crew were called out by police to reports of a car fire on Powell Avenue, just a few hundred yards from the previous fire.
In that case an Audi Quatro had been rolled into a park wall. That car was also completely gutted by the fire. Crews are investigating to see if the fire was started before or after the car hit the wall.
Some coping stones were knocked off the wall, and the road will need to be re surfaced due to the damage caused by the fire.
Both fires are thought to have been started deliberately.
