PLANS to demolish a "poor quality" empty building on one of Bradford's main traffic routes and build a car showroom in its place have been submitted to Bradford Council.
The L Heseltine & Sons building on Canal Road has been empty since earlier this year, when the furniture company re-located. Now Stanley Cars, based further up Canal Road, have revealed plans to expand their business by creating a new showroom, with servicing and repair facilities, on the site. The proposals will create 10 new jobs.
The application says: "The proposal is to demolish the existing poor quality timber structure at the front of the site and then retain the remainder of the building. It is considered that the proposed alterations will provide a much needed improvement to the appearance of the existing building as well as utilising a vacant site situated within an established business area."
The front of the building will be replaced by a new cladded and glazed showroom.
New jobs will be made up of four workshop staff, four sales staff and two administration positions.
Planners will decide whether to approve the application early next year.
