A 23-YEAR-OLD man who wielded a meat cleaver in a drug-fuelled rage has been jailed for eight months.
Robert Poole terrified his partner by waving the weapon in front of her and a toddler and slashing at the kitchen wall and units, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
Poole, who was held in custody after his arrest, was sentenced on a video link to Leeds Prison.
He pleaded guilty to affray and criminal damage at the woman's home in the Thorpe Edge area of Bradford on August 4.
The court heard that Poole, a heavy cannabis user, flew into a paranoid rage, brandishing the cleaver in front of his partner and the child.
He then caused £300 damage to the kitchen with the weapon.
Poole, of no fixed address, had previous convictions for criminal damage, assaulting a police officer and dishonesty offences, the court heard.
His barrister, Gerald Hendron, said Poole accepted that the relationship was at an end and planned to move to another part of the country.
Judge Colin Burn made a restraining order banning him from having any contact with his former partner.
