BRADFORD'S snooker teams remain unbeaten in the Yorkshire Inter-District League after both sides drew last weekend.

Division One defending champions Bradford No 1 opened up a 3-0 lead against Ossett No 1 at Undercliffe Cricket Club, only for the visitors to mount a spirited fightback.

Yorkshire and Bradford champion Wayne Cooper was solid throughout his match with Mike Wilby, winning 80-26 and 74-30, after which Kevin Firth made two breaks of 33 to beat Matthew Samples 91-20.

However, Samples composed himself well in the second frame and reversed the result with an 82-30 win to give Ossett some hope.

Bradford's Lewis Walsh could then do little against an in-form Anthony Hebblethwaite, who made breaks of 39 and 42 to win 70-14, 74-13.

In Division Two, Bradford No 2 had to fight all the way for their draw with top-of-the-table Wakefield at Cue Gardens.

Anthony Green wasn't at his best and lost both frames, and though Gareth Green pulled a frame back, the visitors edged further ahead by winning frame four.

With a win not possible and Wakefield's Chris Hall expected to win both his frames, Peter Hamilton stepped up to the plate on his first appearance of the season and took the honours to give Bradford a share of the spoils.

The billiards team were looking to build on their opening-day victory when they hosted Harrogate at Great Horton Conservative Club. Unfortunately, only Stephen Kershaw won for the home side – an excellent 200-82 success that yielded the aggregate point for the team, after the matches beforehand had been close.

Paul Devitt made a break of 31, but Harrogate's Stephen Crosland had efforts of 39 and 43 on the way to a 200-162 win.

Steve Wilman and Tom Halliday had a close-fought match before Halliday triumphed 200-183.

The semi-finals of the Eric Hodgkinson Bradford Snooker Handicap take place on Saturday at Great Horton Conservative Club (7.30pm).

Matt Yeadon (Baildon Woodbottom) takes on four-time Bradford hampion Gareth Green (Harold Club), while Yorkshire Handicap champion Josh Walker (Undercliffe Cricket Club) plays Robert Lovett (Tong Liberals).

Spectators are welcome.
