A BRADFORD school has come out of special measures after Government inspectors praised its work to protect students from radicalisation.

Carlton Bolling College in Undercliffe was judged "inadequate" by watchdog Ofsted and placed into special measures in June 2014, with one reason being the school "failed to give attention to potential risks posed by extremism".

However, following its latests follow-up visit the school has been upgraded to "requires improvement".

The updated report states: "The work of the college to promote British values and protect students from radicalisation and extremism is a considerable strength."

The report also pointed out there was now a low staff turnover, that the head teacher "has a clear vision and ambition for the school" and that "trust and relationships among the staff community have improved".

Head teacher Adrian Kneeshaw said: "The report recognises all the hard work made by the staff over the last year.

"We are a rapidly improving school, which I fully expect to be rated Good next year and Outstanding quite soon after that."
