A BRADFORD City player and official supported National Meals on Wheels Week by delivering lunch to a fan in Greengates.

Bantams winger Dylan Mottley-Henry and chief executive James Mason were at the home of football fan Carl Grassby to deliver the meal.

Park Care Meals, which runs the delivery service on behalf of Bradford Council, caters for 130 people every day and has 250 clients on its books across the Bradford district.

The visit yesterday marked the National Association of Care Caterers' week-long campaign to promote the benefits of a hot meal service.

Director of Park Care Meals Rik Shipley said: "The visit was to highlight the scheme, it is important for us to take part in it. People don't realise how vital these schemes are until it's gone, but Bradford Council have stuck by theirs.

"This week is to raise awareness and get the message across that this service is there for people who will need it."

The Meals on Wheels service delivers hot meals to people's homes, or through day centres and luncheon clubs. The project aims to tackle, and increase awareness of, loneliness and social isolation and improve safety in the community.
