He faces a similar charge of taking a collection box from the Co-op store in Bingley Road, Saltaire, on November 2.

In both incidents the value of the stolen tins is unknown.

He will stand trial at the magistrates' court on January 11 next year.

Magistrates granted McCarron bail with conditions of a daily electronically-monitored curfew between 1pm and 8pm and ordered him to comply with a drug intervention programme.
