TEENAGERS from Bradford have been recognised for taking part in a two-year Black Heritage Trail project.

A group of 15 students from the African and African Caribbean community, aged between 16 and 18, completed team-building and community projects, such as clean-ups.

They also met seniors residents to hear about their experiences and learn more about their own heritage.

They were given certificates by the Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Joanne Dodds.

Rizwan Rehman, engagement officer at Bradford Council who works with the group, said the project had gone really well.

"This has been a pilot project which has seen students come from different parts of the district.

"They have also had practical work experience. They have come a long way over the two years."

The project aims to make Bradford a fairer and more inclusive city.

Since 2013 the Black Health Forum has worked in partnership with the African and Caribbean communities and groups including Bradford Council, Forster College and the Bradford District Care Foundation Trust.
