A 53-YEAR-OLD man, left partially disabled after leaping off a bridge in a determined suicide attempt, has been jailed for street drug dealing in Bradford.

Ashley Norfolk was warned that those who sold crack cocaine and heroin on the streets would go immediately to prison.

"Whether you are 50 or 20, it matters not," Judge Jonathan Rose said, locking Norfolk up for two years and four months at Bradford Crown Court yesterday.

Norfolk pleaded guilty to two charges of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs in Thornbury on July 30.

Prosecutor Andrew Dallas said the police seized 90 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin from his vehicle.

He told them he had been dealing for four days because he owed his drugs supplier £200.

Norfolk, of Runswick Place, Holbeck, Leeds, picked up a hidden stash of drugs in the morning and delivered them to customers at pre-arranged meeting places.

His solicitor advocate, Ashok Khullar, said he had led a productive life as a lorry driver but became depressed five years ago when his relationship ended.

He jumped off a bridge in a determined bid to end his life that left him with permanent mobility problems.

"He is very sorry and ashamed and he pleaded guilty at the very first opportunity," Mr Khullar said.
