THE organiser of an annual village beer festival has hailed the event's success.

Crowds turned up to sample the drinks on offer at this year's Cononley Beer Festival, which took place last Friday and Saturday.

Organiser Douglas Clark, of Cononley, said: "It went very well, we had 20 beers and a lot of people attending from outside the village.

"There were also plenty who came to watch the England rugby game at the sports club.

"This is the festival's sixth year and we are now getting quite a few regulars who come from a good distance away, as well as some newcomers.

"We normally just have the festival in Cononley Village Institute, but this year we also held it in Cononley Sports Club, which worked out fine.

"All profits will be going towards the sports club and the village institute."
