A 92-YEAR-old woman who was hit by a car in Bradford city centre yesterday is in a serious but stable condition in hospital, say police.

The pensioner's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, added a force spokesman.

The woman was crossing Godwin Street, near its junction with Sunbridge Road and Kirkgate, at about 2.25pm when she was in collision with a red Rover 216.

She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment.

Police said the male driver of the car was spoken to by officers at the scene.

Officers closed Godwin Street at its junctions with Sunbridge Road and James Street, with traffic heading from Westgate direction diverted along Sackville Street, until about 7pm.
