A 29-YEAR-OLD man who slapped a woman after her daughter kicked his flashy car has been ordered to pay her £500 compensation.

Trouble flared when Garry Rawson stopped his Audi TT convertible to speak to a young woman in the street late on December 30 last year, Bradford Crown Court heard today.

Rawson and his male passenger upset Jessica Williams, who had just come out of The George Hotel, off Cleckheaton Road in Low Moor, Bradford.

Prosecutor Martin Sleight said Miss Williams' mother, Samantha, then came on the scene and there was an altercation.

When Rawson, of Moorside Road, Drighlington, got back in the car, Miss Williams kicked the back of it, the court was told.

Rawson then struck her mother in the face and she fell down, hitting her face.

He pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Mrs Williams suffered grazing and swelling to the left side of her face and injuries to her elbows, Mr Sleight said.

Rawson drove off because he was embarrassed to have hit a woman, his barrister Jayne Beckett said.

He was sentenced to a 12 month community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and a £500 compensation order to Samantha Williams.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Roger Thomas QC, said Rawson took pride in cars and was "quite pleased" with the Audi.

He should have driven off when he realised the women were "upset and strident."
