Firefighters were called to an arson attack on a derelict building behind the former Odeon cinema in Bradford city centre today.
The alarm was raised at about 11.15am at the abandoned premises in Quebec Street.
When firefighters arrived they discovered the building in such an unstable condition that they could not go inside. Instead they fought the fire using an aerial appliance.
Police were contacted as was a Bradford Council structural engineer because of fears the building could collapse.
A West Yorkshire Fire Service spokesman said: "It is believed that the fire was started deliberately by youths."
