PUPILS at a Bradford school got to see their teachers dress up as some of the nation's most beloved literary characters as they celebrated Roald Dahl day.
The event at St Oswalds Primary School, marked what would have been the 99th birthday of the author behind children's books like James and the Giant Peach, the BFG and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
As well as the novelty of seeing their teachers dress as characters like the Oompa Loompas, witches and members of The Twitts, the pupils enjoyed art classes inspired by the books and reading sessions.
Teacher Amy Copping, who dressed as one of the Witches, said: "All the teachers read some of their favourite Roald Dahl books to different classes. The stories are quite well known by the children, because they feature in the national curriculum quite a bit."
Head teacher Andrew Chadwick said: "The day is part of our literacy push and it ties in with National Roald Dahl day. His work is still very popular with kids."
