THREE women have been jailed for a brutal revenge attack in which their victim's hair was chopped off and deodorant was sprayed in her mouth.

Catriona Ratcliffe's attackers shouted, "die bitch, die" as she was punched to the floor in her Bradford flat, kicked and assaulted with scissors, Bradford Crown Court heard.

In the dock today were Karen Stones, 49, and Anne Marie Bevington, 41, both of Airedale College Road, Undercliffe, Bradford, and mother and daughter, Janet and Jessica Sales, 56 and 32, both of Hendford Drive, Barkerend, Bradford.

All four pleaded guilty at earlier hearings to assaulting Miss Ratcliffe, 29, and causing her actual bodily harm on the night of November 19 last year.

Stones, who was in breach of a suspended sentence for street robbery, was jailed for 32 months.

Bevington was imprisoned for two years and Jessica Sales for 20 months.

Janet Sales was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, with a probation service activity requirement.

The court heard Janet Sales was recruited to knock on Miss Ratcliffe's door while the others hid out of sight after there was a falling-out among the women.

Bevington, Stones and Jessica Sales then burst into the flat and attacked Miss Ratcliffe.

Prosecutor Andrew Stranex said it was "a sustained assault" by all three women.

Miss Ratcliffe was punched to the floor and kicked and scissors were used to cut off "a significant amount" of her hair.

Jessica Sales sprayed deodorant into her face and mouth.

Miss Ratcliffe, who suffered bruising to her face, back and arms, rang 999 in great distress.

Stones and Bevington made no comment to the police. Janet Sales said she went to the flat to ask for drugs and her daughter admitting spraying Miss Ratcliffe with deodorant.

The court heard that Stones had convictions for drugs and dishonesty offences, robberies and theft from the person. She was jailed for 20 months with 12 months of the suspended sentence activated on top.

Bevington's record included robbery, assault, animal cruelty and battery.

Jessica Sales had convictions for robbery, theft and criminal damage.

Janet Sales had no relevant convictions and had kept out of trouble all together for many years.

In mitigation, the court heard that Miss Ratcliffe's injuries were not the most serious.

Bevington had issues with alcohol and substance abuse and she had been in custody for many months.

Stones had also spent a long time held on remand. She too had past issues with drugs and alcohol.

Jessica Sales did not physically assault Miss Ratcliffe, beyond using the spray.

She was a past heroin addict and alcohol remained a problem.

Janet Sales was vulnerable and easily led. She did not go into the flat and did not foresee the extent of the attack.

Judge David Hatton QC told the women: "Your victim was subjected to a brutal attack which included kicking, punching, spraying deodorant into her mouth and cutting her hair. She was left in a considerable state of distress."

He continued: "I am not satisfied that any of you is in a significant state of remorse."
