A ROW has broken out between Shipley MP Philip Davies and two residents over the government's response to the refugee crisis.
Janet Cavanagh, of Harden, wrote to Mr Davies, calling on him to urge the government to offer thousands of additional places to Britain's resettlement programme.
Mr Davies replied saying "there is no justification at all for people entering the EU via the Mediterranean to enter the UK".
In a further e-mail the Conservative MP referred to Ms Cavanagh's "trendy left-wing view."
Ms Cavanagh's daughter, Amy Firth, then contacted Mr Davies on her mother's behalf.
She said: "I was shocked and angered that she got such a response on this issue.
"I did not believe an MP could have such a cold response."
Mr Davies said: "The lady contacted me and asked for my views and I responded appropriately in my view. Her responses were sarcastic and abusive.
"The constituent was trying to cause mischief.
"I wasn't going to get into a situation with one constituent who launched a tirade of unjustified abuse.
"It was said that I did not have any compassion. I don't think that was an appropriate word to be used."
