CYCLISTS tucked into a free breakfast at a Bradford cafe to mark Cycle to Work Day.

A bike breakfast event at The Pavilion Cafe attracted more than 60 riders.

It featured riders getting free breakfasts and Firth Cycles brought Dr Bike to the event who offered repairs to cycles.

Cycle to Work Day is a national event, which aims to encourage everyone to take to two wheels and cycle to work for just one day.

Saira Jabeen, co-owner of The Pavilion Cafe, says the cafe is looking to hold another bike breakfast next month after the success of yesterday's event, and a similar one in June.

She said: "The event is growing an we want to encourage people to get on their bike and see more of Bradford and the surrounding area and get fit and healthy.

"We are looking to hold the bike breakfasts regularly. There were quite a few people on their bikes when we opened up at 7am.

"There was lots of people who were new to cycling who came along.

"Everyone seemed to like their breakfast."

Meanwhile, cyclists have been urged to make a log of the number of miles they do on their bike during September to win prizes including a new bike. Go to wygocycling/rewards to register.
