SIR – Geoffrey Bindley – The Jesus Man – by all accounts has not worked since 1960, so just what has he done in all this time to deserve a splendid funeral at our expense and have a statue erected in the city?
Has he not got any money to pay for his own funeral? They can’t seem to find his family either. Maybe they don’t want to be responsible for such an expensive funeral either.
Can any one person tell us anything that he has done that has been charitable to help others? He was a loner all these years and a loner when he died.
Maybe waving at folk while walking round the town counts as charitable then, I don’t know.
Now one person I can say who would have been entitled to a lavish funeral and a statue erected for her would have been Mother Teresa.
When she died she did not get the recognition she so richly deserved as her passing was two days after Princess Diana and the nation was in mourning.
Mind you, that wouldn’t have bothered Mother Teresa - she loved our Princess.
People need to slow down a bit and see if any of Mr Brindley’s family come forward.
If someone can come up with something Mr Brindley did to help others, I would love to hear from them.
