ORGANISERS of a calendar featuring more than 50 semi-naked people pictured around the Bradford district are hoping to raise more than £4,500 for charity.

Shipley Memories Calendar 2016 pictures residents from across Shipley and Saltaire, who volunteered to strip off for the cheeky publication.

Semi-professional photographer Andrew Holland took the pictures in a Calendar Girls-style shoot, in his spare time this summer.

Three-quarters of the money raised will go to Shipley-based Carers Resource and the rest will go to the Hirst Wood Regeneration Group.

"Both of the groups do really great work by helping out those who really need to be cared for," said Mr Holland.

Locations including the Ring O Bells pub in Shipley, the Half Moon Cafe in Roberts Park, Saltaire, and Shipley town centre car park were used and a senior men's squad from Salts Juniors Football Club posed outside their clubhouse.

"The Calendar Girls-style has been done time and time again. Most of them do them inside but our pictures are outside and show off Shipley and Saltaire," said Mr Holland, of Dallam Grove, Saltaire.

"Everybody who took part has been absolutely fantastic.

"People said that they were nervous beforehand but some said it was the best thing that they had ever done. They found it quite a liberating experience.

"We all had fun while we took the pictures.

"We had 6am starts some days as we had to fit taking the pictures around when everyone was available and we only had one complaint when we took the pictures!"

The project has been sponsored by 21 business from Shipley and Saltaire and people can get a first glimpse of the finished product at the Ring O Bells, in Bradford Road, on Monday, from 8pm.

Some of the models, aged between 19 and 70, will also be attending the big reveal.

"The calendar has gone really, really well. We had 50 volunteers who took part and the majority of them were women - we only had about ten or 11 men," said Mr Holland, 43.

"We don't know how it's going to go but I will be looking to print 500 calendars.

"It has taken me a bit of a while to put it together. It has been a long, drawn out process."

The calendars, priced £10, will be available at venues to be announced across Shipley later this month. Visit www.andrewhollandphotography.co.uk/shipley-calendar-2016 to pre-oder.
