KINDHEARTED teenagers have raised £550 for a children's cancer charity.

The students, aged 15 to 17, from a National Citizen Service group in Bradford, raised the cash for Little Heroes Cancer Trust, based in Park View Court, Shipley.

The group of teens spent two weeks on a residential, learning team-building skills and also learning how to live independently.

They spent time planning and delivering a project designed to make a difference to their local community.

The result was that the group then walked 15 miles on the Leeds Liverpool Canal, took part in a bag packing event and collected donations in Asda, and also took part in a six-hour run on a treadmill.

The money raised will be spent on buying toys and gifts for some of the children with cancer that the charity looks after.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford, Councillor Joanne Dodds, paid a visit to the charity's base yesterday.

It will also contribute towards their appeal to pay for a £40,000 holiday home at a location in the north of England for young cancer sufferers to visit.

Anni Wilkinson, chief executive of Little Heroes Cancer Trust, said: "It's amazing that they have raised so much money for us.

"I am massively passionate about children raising money for children.

"They are a good bunch of youngsters and have fabulous enthusiasm.

"They have brought their ideas to us. They have worked really hard on this."
