Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted sexual assault after releasing CCTV images earlier today.
Detectives from Calderdale CID were keen to hear from anyone who recognised a man they wanted to speak to regarding the incident, which took place on a canal towpath in Brighouse.
The offence happened at about 6.40am on Tuesday, as the 22-year-old female victim was walking along the towpath.
The woman was approached by a man who tried to sexually assault her and then fled towards Briggate.
Police have today arrested a 48-year-old local man.
Detective Sergeant Simon Archer, of Calderdale CID, said: "I would also continue appeal to anyone who was in and around the area who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to come forward as they may hold vital information."
